ASTON PROVIDE WORKMANLIKE VICTORY

Precision Notts Senior League
Premier Division
ASTON UNITED FC 2 MAGDALA AMATEURS FC 0

Was intending to go to Radcliffe Olympic Reserves v Basford United Community Reserves, but a phone call letting me know the hone side couldnt raise a side, saw me put plan B in to operation and having promised Aston United a visit for some time, this was their first home match of 2017.

There was a bit of confusion to the time of the kick off but it was confirmed as a 2pm kick off earlier in the morning, so down the M1 and not far from the ground, we found the road blocked, so a de tour round Ilkeston to the ground.

I soon got the line ups and was ready for the match at the New Manor Ground, the game kicked off and it was very even, but one thing I have noticed about the ground, is the seated stand behind the dugouts and you cant see a thing from the seats, so I strolled round the ground to take some photos from the game.

On 18 minutes, Aston broke from a throw in down the left side and the ball was played in to the middle, where CHRIS BEIGHTON struck home for the hosts to go in front. The rest of the half was a funny sort of half, with not much of the game played on the ground, the amount of headers must have set a record.

The Second Half began brightly foe the visitors as they pushed forward but didnt really push the home keeper in to making a save, whilst Aston played on the counter attack and nearly doubled their lead on the hour, when the ball was cleared off the line.

From 70 minutes onwards, Aston began to take control of the game and it looked only a matter of time before they did score again and this happened on 81 minutes, when SHAY WIGGINS fired in to the corner of the net to make it 2-0.

I felt all three officials, Referee Barry Goodley and his two assistants Colin White and Michael Evans all had very good games
